The Courtyard in the Evening, an early teenage watercolor on paper

The Women in the Evening Courtyard, an early teenage work I did in watercolor
During the early teenage days, it was a nice experience for me to work in watercolor on paper on subjects from the tales of the ancient traditions and stories from the historical legends. This work is one among them depicting the women waiting in the courtyard when the evening lights of the sun are behind..

The Village in an evening before twenty five years..!!

The village before twenty five years is frozen in this watercolor on paper I did during that time.
It was a period of a hot and dry midsummer and the villagers were out to fetch water from the distant wells so as to manage the drought.
The evening with the emerging clouds and the sun behind in the shades of pale red are reminiscent of a tremendous monsoon ...I am grateful to my village and the fading colors of my teenage...and moreover to my watercolors that were spread around my paper quite like that tree spreading the branches across my field of landscape as depicted in the picture..!!

Lady Percussionists from the 20th century India ,from the middle suburbs..,

Lady Percussionists, my teenage study in poster color on paper
These lady percussionists belong to the middle suburbs of India of the middle half of the 20th Century, an image I had met with in a black and white photograph published in a photo journal of South India of that time.
I found it as nice one to be transformed into colors and thus made a study of the realistic image in poster colors on paper ,a medium  I had been adapted to use most frequently in my painting practices  during the teenage.

Lady from the Mountains, a photo realistic study !

a photo realistic study from my teenage (Watercolor on paper)
This face is a photo-realistic study on paper in watercolor that I did in my teenage .The portraiture depicts the womanhood from the far Eastern Mountainous part of India.
I believe that I have done the smile of the lady quite well as such as it was found in the actual image !

I took out of my heart ,at my 16 years of age ,which is seen below..,

At the age of sixteen, when I look back, I can see and convince myself that I have had a fascination and factual experience  on what the age had left with  my life and thought process as what you see here in this work of mine in poster colors on paper that I put as a tribute to my teenage that had cherished a dream and imagination for my living process  then, towards lyricism, musical notes, performing arts and seasons that do have feathering colors and withering dreams...that's all about the teenage as it has been depicted in this painting on paper..!

The greenroom of a performance - a study in poster colors during the age of 16.

This is a greenroom ( makeup room) of a classical performance. Here, just before the opening up of a play of an Indian epic, the performers of the classical theater of  the dance drama , KATHAKALI, are getting ready for their roles by finishing their costuming and makeup! The main figure in the center of the picture ,who is ready to set out for his role on the stage ,bows before the greenroom-lamp before beginning his role in the play so as to make a start of the performance !The character is of royal hood that tells the story of the triumph of the five princes of Pandava  against the hundred ones of Kaurava (Pandava and Kaurava denote the two ancestry of the Indian Vedic period). The eldest of the hundred ones is depicted here as the character who bows before the lamp in the center of the greenroom , the yellow costumed character facing against is the character of Lord Krishna who had proved to be the key of success to the five princes over the hundred ones. The performer is yet to finish his costuming and having the final touches of ornamentation with the help of the assistant stood against him.Another one is the female character who stands left to the figure in the center and who is almost finished the makeup.( I have done this picture when I was sixteen years old and the medium is poster color on paper). This greenroom imagery has been recreated by me out of the memories of the performing nights in the festival seasons in Kerala, the southern part of

The Ethnic Costumes !

During the teenage, I have tried to portray different costumes of people and performers around the living styles of South India and its performing traditions .These works were done on paper in poster colors. Here is a specimen of one among them I have done illustrating the ethnic apparel design and beauty concepts on how to decorate the feminine beauty as it enlivens the village life and harmony of homely surroundings of the land. The figure portrayed here is an icon from the world of motion picture photography and performing art. The apparels, the blouse and the accompaniments, bordered with silky stuffs add extra layer to the beauty of the figure; the closely fitting necklaces, studs and the facial makeups are also do the same as well !
